Project Description: Club Globe Materi is a very active student run environmental club at my CEG. They do a lot of activities involving deforestation sensibilisations, tree planting, compost piles, fruit tree nurseries, and organic gardening. I would like to help fund some materials which would facilitate these projects for many years. If communal tools were available and kept at the CEG with their teacher advisor (the AP of SVT) they could last many years and help with all Club Globe projects and activities. Club Globe approached me for the funding of 2 shovels, 2 rakes, 4 hoes, 4 machetes, 4 watering cans, plastic sachets (for the nursery), and one wheelbarrow. The club is currently depending on students to borrow materials from their families, which causes many problems during the planting and harvesting seasons when these materials are needed at home for cultivating. The extra money can be raised through selling mango pepinieres or vegetables at the market
Dates of Project: The projects of Club Globe are ongoing and expanding. They could begin to use the materials immediately, March 2008.
Number of People Involved: There is Gaitan Tossou the teacher advisor and about 18 active members of the club (5 girls and 13 boys from the CEG)
Budget:

Item Number Cost
Watering Can 4 15.200
Plastic Bags 1 box 1.000
Rake 2 5.000
Shovel 2 5.000
Machete 4 6.000
Wheelbarrow 1 18.000
Hoe 4 6.000
Total 56.200

Amount Requested: 50.000 CFA

GAD Coordinator Comments: This sounds like a great project and I’m really happy to see that it was initiated by the students and not the volunteer. Recommend funding.
