Project Description: I want to do a world map with my girls club. I will be tying it into women world leaders throughout history by marking the countries that have had women leaders with a star.
Dates of Project: Beginning of June
Number of People Involved: 2 PCVs and 15-20 girls

Item Number Cost
White Oil Paint 2 4kg Cans 29.000
Color Tints 2 blue, 1 green, 1 yellow, 1 red 17.500
Paintbrushes 8 2.000
Tape 2 rolls 1.500
Total 50.000

Amount Requested: 50.000 CFA

GAD Coordinator Comments: Recommend funding.

GAD Financial Officer Comments: Agree to fund; I like the emphasis on women as world leaders. I hope, though, that instead of just marking the countries Jenn includes a legend of some sort explaining what the star means, so that later, students who were not present at the creation of the map can still benefit from that lesson.

Project Description: In the beginning of June, myself, with the help of 20 CEG girls prepped a wall at my CEG and began the painting of a world map. The girls were thrilled with this project; none of them had done anything like it before. Due to some scheduling problems the girls were only able to get the world map started, so another PCV and I finished the map. Countries that have had or have now a female head of state were marked so that others would know this. It is my plan to use this next school year with my girls’ club. The community support behind this project amazed me. What started out as a fun project to do with my girls turned into something my community fell in love with. One person went so far as to say it was a gift from God.
